Paula I. Moreira

JAD is happy to announce the appointment of Paula I. Moreira, PhD, as Deputy Editor to the journal.

Dr. Moreira is currently Assistant Professor at Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra and head of the Cell Metabolism and Quality Control Group at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra. Her group is mainly interested in elucidating the role of mitochondria and insulin signaling pathways in brain changes occurring in diabetes and age-related neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. Moreira won the Stimulus to Research prize, in 2003, supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and, in 2008, the L’Oréal for Women in Science Award supported by L'Oreal Portugal/UNESCO/FCT.

Dr. Moreira has been an Associate Editor of JAD since 2004, served as a Regional Editor in 2016, and published and reviewed many articles for the journal. She joins Deputy Editors Jesus Avila, Massimo Tabaton, and Xiongwei Zhu in lending her expertise and council to help Editor-in-Chief George Perry define and shape the development of JAD and its review.
