Biography
Dr Philip Scheltens studied at the VU University, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, gaining his MD in 1984, and PhD (Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Alzheimer’s disease) in 1993.
Dr Scheltens is Professor of Cognitive Neurology neurologist at the Alzheimer Center Amsterdam. The VUmc Alzheimer Center, produced to date over 80 PhD theses.
He has authored >1100 peer reviewed papers and >50 book chapters and co-edited several textbooks. In 2015 his first Dutch book entitled “het Alzheimer Mysterie” was published (Arbeiderspers), which entered the bestseller list in 2 weeks.
He was elected member of the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2011 and was elected as member of the board in 2015. In october he joined LSP to manage the LSP Dementia Fund
