Biography & Research:
Dr Welberry is an epidemiologist and health services researcher who is passionate about improving health care with a focus on harnessing the untapped potential of health-related big data. She lectures within in the Centre for Big Data Research in Health, University of New South Wales, Sydney, convening and teaching courses in statistical modelling and data management as well as leading major dementia-related research projects. Dr Welberry’s research has examined the utility of administrative data to identify and measure dementia incidence in Australia and focused on policy-relevant questions related to dementia care pathways. This has included demonstrating the link between GP continuity and psychotropic prescribing and the impact of different levels of home support on time in residential care.
