Biography & Research:
Silvia Serino Ph.D., is advanced researcher at Applied Tecnhology for Neuropsychology Lab (Istituto Auxologico Italiano, Milan, Italy) and post-doctoral researcher at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan (Italy)
She obtained a Ph.D. in Psychology at Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, with a thesis focused on the use of virtual reality to understand how the brain codes egocentric and allocentric spatial representations. She is mainly interested in the role of spatial processing for the human cognitive system, also in pathological conditions, e.g., Alzheimer's Disease. Her approach is multidisciplinary, with a specific expertise in the use of virtual reality as an effective tool for investigating how the brain represents the body and the space around within an embodied approach. She has published more than 50 papers on international scientific journals. She participated in different national and international research projects mainly focused in the exploitation of advanced technologies in the management of mental disorders.
