Biography & Research:
Mehmet Cansev, MD PhD, is a Professor of Pharmacology at Uludag University in Bursa, Turkey. Dr. Cansev graduated as a medical doctor and received his doctorate in Pharmacology from Uludag University. He did his post-doctoral studies with Dr. Richard J. Wurtman at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) between 2004-2008. His research work has focused on role of phosphatide precursors in synaptogenesis and the utility of nutritional approaches in rodent models of neurodegenerative diseases. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and mentored masters and graduate students. Dr. Cansev was awarded the Best Young Pharmacologist by Turkish Pharmacological Society in 2008, the Best Young Scientist by Turkish Academy of Sciences in 2009 and the Best Young Scientist in Medicine by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey in 2014. Dr. Cansev is married and father to two.
