Biography & Research:
A/Prof Jacobson obtained her PhD in 2006 from the University of Basel (Switzerland), where she studied neuropharmacological and genetic determinants of anxiety, depression and cognitive processes using preclinical models. She joined Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (Basel, Switzerland) in 2007 whre she lead a preclinical pharmacology laboratory, conducting drug discovery research for Alzheimer’s disease, sleep and psychiatric disorders. In 2013 Dr Jacobson joined the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (Melbourne, Australia). Her research interests centre on the neurobiology and pharmacology of sleep and arousal and their role in cognitive and emotional processes, particularly in the context of Alzheimer’s disease and stress disorders.
