Biography & Research:
Dr. Yang Jiang is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Behavioral Science, University of Kentucky College of Medicine, and a Research Physiologist at the Lexington VA Medical Center. She is also an affiliated faculty member in the Department of Psychology, Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy Center, in the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Jiang has broad training and expertise in experimental psychology (Ph.D from Miami University, OH) and in cognitive neuroscience. Her postdoctoral training was at the Department of Neurobiology, Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA) and the Laboratory of Brain and Cognition, National Institute of Mental Health (Bethesda, MD).
Dr. Jiang’s laboratory has been studying perceptual and cognitive functions in normal aging, patients with mild cognitive impairments, traumatic brain injury, or dementia. Her laboratory (Aging, Brain, and Cognition Lab) uses approaches of psychophysics and neuroimaging, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and event-related potentials (ERPs) in humans. The current projects include developing neuro-signatures for predictive risk and treatment of cognitive impairments induced by mental disorders. Also, her lab has been gauging individual differences in human behavior, brain responses, and genetics associated with cognitive and affective processes.
