Biography & Research:
Chiara Brück is a PhD student at the Department of Public Health at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She holds a Bachelor and Master degree in Econometrics and Operations Research from the School of Business and Economics of Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands.
Her research focuses on the development of a microsimulation model for dementia in the Dutch population. Microsimulation models can evaluate uncertainties, synthesize complex information, take trends in risk factors into account, and estimate long-term and population-wide effects of (hypothetical) interventions. Based on the well‐known Microsimulation Screening Analysis (MISCAN) model from cancer research, Chiara is developing a dementia microsimulation model. MISCAN-Dementia can be used to predict how the burden of dementia will develop over the coming decades in terms of incidence, prevalence, mortality, costs, and quality of life.
