Biography & Research:
Emer McGrath is an Associate Professor of Neurology at NUI Galway and Consultant Neurologist at University Hospital Galway, Ireland. Professor McGrath holds a Health Research Board Ireland Clinician Scientist Career Award. She is a co-investigator with the Framingham Heart Study. Professor McGrath completed neurology training at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham & Women's Hospital and a postdoctoral research fellowship in neurovascular cognitive disorders at the Framingham Heart Study, Boston University funded by an Alzheimer’s Association Clinician Scientist Fellowship. She was previously on faculty at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Neurologist at Brigham & Women's Hospital before relocating to Ireland. Her research interests include clinical epidemiology of neurovascular cognitive disorders, contribution of vascular and lifestyle risk factors to dementia risk across the lifespan, blood biomarkers for preclinical/clinical dementia and clinical trials in dementia
